Off the Course

On the Menu

If you’re a food lover, Prince Edward Island offers exceptional culinary quality and variety, from casual cafes, bistros and eateries to international selections and fine dining.

Celebrate your success on the greens with Island-made wine, spirits or beer, or tour the facilities where they’re made. Enjoy chicken shawarma, donairs, butter chicken, a bento box, Shanghai fried noodles or a bowl of pho. Our seafood is recognized around the world, with fresh PEI lobster, mussels, oysters, clams, and the Catch of the Day on the menu across the Island. On the side, world-famous PEI potatoes prepared in more ways than you can imagine, including poutine, or a local guilty pleasure – Fries with the Works. Afterwards, some award-winning Island cheese, preserves, or a cone overflowing with the Island’s finest ice cream.

Genuine Welcoming People

Islanders have earned a reputation for being friendly and welcoming. It’s in our general nature to be that way, and in fact, we’ve made welcoming visitors a way of life. Need recommendations, information or directions while in PEI? Just ask an Islander. With this in our character, it’s no wonder that we have so many experiences both on and off the course for our visitors.

For instance, in PEI, you can walk, run or cycle a whole province. We’re home to the Confederation Trail, a network that traverses the Island from tip to tip, and our contribution to the Trans-Canada Trail. You can also choose any branch of the trail for a short walk that will lead you past some incredible scenery. If camping is more your style, our provincial park and a number of private operators offer camping facilities across the Island. For anglers and others who’d rather be on the water, deep sea fishing excursions, and kayak and canoe rentals are also available. Ever attended a harness race? This style of horseracing has been popular in PEI for decades, earning us the nickname “The Kentucky of Canada”.

On the Beach

What’s a visit to PEI without spending time on one of our famous beaches? Whether you’re inclined to take a moonlight stroll, run the sand for the challenge, relax with some sun screen and a good book, take in the scenery or swim in the ocean, you’ll find your options wide open. The fact is, we’ve got some of the best beaches the world has to offer. Not only are we home to destinations that are popular with locals and visitors alike, but we’re also home to beaches that are off-the-beaten-track and easy to find. Regardless of which beach(es) you choose, make sure to bring your camera.
