Golf PEI celebrates inaugural Golf Industry Day after record-breaking summer
Charlottetown, PE (October 6, 2025) – Golf PEI is celebrating the inaugural Golf Industry Day on October 9, 2025, to celebrate the economic and social impact that the golf industry has on our province and its communities. This celebration follows a record-breaking 2025, marked by significant growth in almost all key metrics.
“Golf Industry Day is an opportunity to thank golf courses, their hard-working staff, and golfers for all the contributions golf brings to our province’s economy and social wellbeing,” said Sam MacPhail, CEO of Golf PEI. “The golf industry strengthens communities and offers those engaged in the sport the opportunity to feel a bit lighter in a heavy world.”
Golf Industry Day Fast Facts (based on 2024):
- $21.8 million in estimated direct golf revenue from non-member rounds
- 600+ Islanders employed in the golf industry
- $200,000+ in green fees donated by golf courses to local causes
- 75+ charity golf tournaments hosted across PEI
Golf season by the numbers as of September 30, 2025:
- Golf PEI’s internal package sales revenue has skyrocketed 25%
- Paid rounds played grew 16.5% over this time last year
- Total rounds played are up 13.4% over 2024
- Average spend per packaged golfer is up 20%
- Room nights booked through Golf PEI packages are up 24%
- 3 Island golf courses cracked the Top 59 Public Golf Courses in Canada
