Golf PEI marks second annual Golf Industry Day on October 8th

Industry contributes an estimated $107 million to PEI’s GDP annually; one in seven tourists cite golf as reason to visit

Charlottetown, PE (October 7, 2026) – Golf PEI is marking its second annual Golf Industry Day on Thursday, October 8, 2026, recognizing golf’s economic and community contributions on Prince Edward Island. This year’s celebration follows a strong 2026 season, marking a new level of growth for Golf PEI’s reservation centre.

“Golf Industry Day is our chance to thank the courses, the staff who work long hours from spring to fall, and the golfers who keep coming back,” said Sam MacPhail, CEO of Golf PEI. “The numbers show golf is one of the Island’s most important tourism drivers. It also employs hundreds of Islanders, raises money for local causes, and the game offers people a chance to feel a bit lighter in world that sometimes feels stretched thin.”

  • A $107 million annual contribution to provincial GDP
  • $26 million in tax revenue generated annually for PEI
  • One in seven visitors to PEI cites golf as the motivation for their trip
  • 1,800 Island jobs supported by the golf industry
  • $200,000+ in green fees donated by courses to local causes
  • 75+ charity golf tournaments hosted across the Island
